Ever wanted to know where your seafood comes from? What the Australian seafood industry does to ensure your seafood is sustainable? Or where the top-level restaurants go to get the freshest of the fresh?
With up to 100 varieties of seafood on offer every week, Sydney Fish Market is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and the world’s second largest seafood market in terms of variety outside of Japan.
Come in early for a behind the scenes tour (bookings essential) and experience the true market atmosphere. Tours are conducted by trained SFM guides and take you behind the scenes to explore all facets of the market and its operations – including the auction floor, sashimi pavilion and crab and lobster pen.
Of course you can always just drop by to enjoy a sumptuous feast of Australia’s freshest seafood, and a visit to the bakery, deli, bottle shop, greengrocer & gift shop.
The famous Vic’s Meat butchery is the latest addition to SFM’s list of popular seafood and produce retailers. The $1.5 million retail outlet opened its doors in September this year, featuring a purpose built retail outlet and a Wagyu and Grange bar. The new outletalso houses the largest meat smoker in the southern hemisphere.
