The second annual Markets in May was held in 2015 and what a month it was! Local Market Guide is proud to have initiated the campaign to help promote and support the growth of markets in Sydney and surrounding areas.
‘Markets in May’ is a month long community event celebrating the wonderful markets being held around our city. Each year market organisers are encouraged to offer engaging activities and programs alongside their regular market during the month of May. Interactive events such as farmer and artisan discussions, cooking demos, art exhibitions, sustainability workshops and market tours are just some of the activities markets host. Markets proudly come together to promote the benefits of shopping locally and to collectively build awareness around the importance of markets in the community.

The celebrations were kicked off with a ‘Taste and Talk’ Market on Thursday 30th April at the Martin Place Amphitheatre. 12 top local producers represented the increasing number of artisans and food producers who trade at local markets. Stallholders sharing their story on the day included Ferment It, Spice Vine, Sydney Salt Co, A. Retief Wines, The Bagel Shop, Backa Sydney, Chunky Dave's Peanut Butter, Herbisaurus, Little Riv and our Supporting Event Partner Di Bella Coffee.
Local Market Guide was also excited to announce the first Markets in May ambassador in 2015, Australian Nutritionist and author of the ‘The Happy Cookbook’, Lola Berry*.
